Snopek, Mark Lee Age 53, of Boone, Iowa was killed in a hit and run accident while riding his bicycle on August 8, 2007.

Mark was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on February 10, 1954 to Leland and Irene (nee Rostkowski) Snopek. He graduated from Cudahy High School in 1972. On April 28, 1979, he married Kay Milinovich. Mark worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation as a Wetland Ecologist. Mark enjoyed canoeing, especially the boundary waters, bicycling and hiking. He was a voracious reader of natural history. He is preceded in death by his sister, Amy Lang in 1985. He will be fondly remembered by his wife of 28 years Kay, parents, Lee and Irene Snopek, of Minocqua, WI, formerly of Cudahy, WI, sister, Jill Kotke, nieces, Lindsey Lang and Alyssa Kotke, nephews, Grant Lang and Taylor Kotke, special pet cat, Spot and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Mark's life will be held Monday, August 20, 2007 at 7:00PM at Schramka-Nero Funeral Home in Cudahy. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 8:00PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Wisconsin Wetland Association, Society of Wetland Scientists, Natural Resource Defense Council or The Nature Conservancy.
