South Shore Water Frolics is a free three-day summer festival held annually at South Shore Park in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It features a parade, live music and fireworks at the lakefront. The event, along with Summerfest and the many ethnic and cultural festivals held through out the city, are what give Milwaukee the nickname "City of Festivals." Celebrating its 58th year in 2007, the South Shore Frolics is one of the oldest festivals in Milwaukee. It is sponsored by the Bay View Lions Club, which provides a stage and music near the South Shore Yacht Club. A parade is held along Kinnickinnic Avenue that includes competitions between local high school sports teams, cheerleaders and clubs. At the park venues are staged such as the annual Classic Car Show and a market for the Bay View Art Guild. Rounding off each night is the festival's signature Atomic Fireworks display put on by Bartolotta Fireworks, with its many percussive salute shells. when July 13-15, 2007 where South Shore Park, 2700 S. Gallery Opening Night: Best of the gutter grrls: A 5 year RETROspective
Come to Cafe LuLu's tonight for Gallery Night, and bask in the glory of quirky works of the gutter grrls, including 1991 C.H.S. grad Laura Halfmann. The gutter grrls (gg’s) are a collaborative artist group working in mixed media, digital photography, performance, installation, and film. Conceived at the local bowling alley in 2001 (the site of their first exhibit), they began altering digital images of their Bay View neighborhood. Soon after, the gg’s decided to invite their audiences to participate in their art, including community and chance as key players. The gutter grrls prefer not to take themselves too seriously, giving both themselves and participants in their events permission to retain or alter their identities and realities as their comfort levels allow. where Cafe LuLu, 2261 S Howell, Milwaukee ( map) when 6-9pm Thursday June 28 info 414.294.5858 www.guttergrrls.com

Hey Nikki!
Dumb thing about the old site was, I never intended for it to be down for more than a few days. But all's good again.
Did you see the picture I had of you from Pirates of Penzance? It's in the Photo Gallery. If you have old pictures (new ones too) add em! I know there are lots of people that have been visiting the site looking for photos from the when we were all in school.
It's great hearing from you!

Milwaukee County Supervisor Ryan McCue grabbed 60% of the vote in the Cudahy mayoral election, easily defeating incumbent John Hohenfeldt. From JSOnline.com April 4, 2007
The ill-fated Powerade Iceport project was a key issue in the race. The five-rink ice arena never broke ground, and the city is in court trying to regain rights to the land. McCue said he wants to see a business park built there while Hohenfeldt wanted a mixed-use development and said he hoped to attract a major business to the site. Read the full story.
